Jeff Conine will compete in the Ford Ironman World Championship |
Jeff Conine of Major League Baseball's Florida Marlins, will compete in the 2008 Ford Ironman World Championship. On October 11, Conine, 41, will embark on his newest athletic endeavor since his recent retirement, and join 1,800 athletes in Kailua-Kona, Hawaii, for the world's most challenging and prestigious endurance event. "After participating in competitive sports for over 32 years, first in racquetball and then baseball, I knew some kind of physical challenge was what I needed. I decided to pursue an athletic achievement that very few accomplish," said Conine. "I have dedicated this Ironman journey to my friend Howard, by raising funds for the Bone Marrow Transplant Program at the Memorial Cancer Institute. I hope you will consider joining me on this journey by donating through my website."
